2021 was a great year for Maus, Warwick, Matthews & Company! This year we closed 45 sales transactions totaling $36.5 million and 62 lease transactions totaling 218,604 square feet of space. We want to take some time to look back on some of the noteworthy moments we had to wrap things up and get prepared for next year. Here is our official 2021 recap!

Bradley Creek Station

This year Bradley Creek Station was one of our biggest projects. We were able to facilitate the sale and lease of the entire 80,000 RSF of the new retail and office center on Oleander Drive. The agents who took part in these transactions were Steve Hall and Bill Maus.

Willow Woods Shopping Center

Steve Hall and John Futch were part of the lease of almost 6,000 SF of retail space in the Willow Woods shopping center on Oleander Drive. The 3 units are zoned CB and will be used as street retail.

University Square Outlet Mall

Steve Hall was part of the lease of 4 different units in the University Square Outlet Mall totaling over 8,000 SF of retail space. These units are located off of S College Road across the street from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. They are zoned RB and will be used for various retail-type stores.

Arboretum West

Arboretum West was another large project from this past year. This new mixed-use development on Military Cutoff Road is now home to various restaurants, offices and retail businesses. It is located across from the main northern entrance of the Landfall community, which provides many opportunities to work, dine, and shop. Steve Hall leased over 15,000 SF of space this year.

Neighborhood Shopping Center

In September, we sold a local shopping center for $6,850,000. This shopping center is made of a 57,000 square food Food Lion co-anchored by a Dollar General, Sherwin Williams and a good mix of local tenants. It is located at the S. College Road and 17th Street Extension in Wilmington. Jeff Idol represented the seller and retained management and leasing responsibility for the new owners.

Mel Gibson Spotting

Back at the beginning of December, Mel Gibson was seen dining at Castucci’s in Southport! He is currently filming a new supernatural thriller called “Boys of Summer” in Southport. We sold this restaurant to the owner back in 2017, so it is cool to see such a large Hollywood icon at a place we are familiar with!

This 2021 recap doesn’t include nearly all of the work we were a part of, but they are some great highlights. We are very proud of all our agents for their hard work this year and look forward to all that is to come in 2022! Happy New Year!
