Wilmington, North Carolina is home to beautiful beaches, incredible food, and some of the best people around. Summertime is when this city shines with fun events taking place all summer long. Here are some ways to spend your time in Wilmington this summer!
Family Events
Who doesn’t love a beach day? Wilmington is home to Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach. Bring the kids out for a day of fun in the sun at one of Wilmington’s beaches. If spending time in the water sounds fun, but the sand clean-up does not, then Jungle Rapids is the place for you. Jungle Rapids features a water park, bumper cars, laser tag, arcade games, and more. If you’re looking for a way to cool down this summer, head to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Likewise, DEFY Gravity is another place to stay cool while having a blast. For some affordable fun, check out The Pointe 14’s Summer Movie Magic screenings. Every Wednesday and Thursday until July 28, they play children’s movies with $1 admission and $1 popcorn. You can never see too many movies, so pack a picnic and head to Carolina Beach Lake Park to watch a free movie each Sunday through September 4. Summertime flies by, so enjoy every minute.
Date Night

There’s nothing quite as romantic as spending your summer with someone special, especially in a place as lovely as Wilmington. Downtown Wilmington presents endless possibilities to spend your summer nights. Start your night at one of Wilmington’s famous restaurants, such as Fork ‘N’ Cork, Rebellion NC, or Beer Barrio. The Little Dipper is a unique dining experience that everyone should experience at least once. Since the sun sets over Wilmington Riverwalk, it’s the best place to stroll on a breezy night. Another option for watching the sunset is at Cloud 9 Rooftop Bar which specializes in breathtaking views and tasty drinks. End your night with a ghost tour in one of North Carolina’s most haunted cities!
For the Adventurer

In Wilmington, there are endless possibilities to adventure this summer. Get your blood pumping by trying something new, like surfing. Summer is the perfect time to learn how to surf since the waves are smaller. Similarly, the ocean floors of Wilmington beaches are shallow and gently sloping, making them ideal for first-timers. Another exciting way to spend your day is to kayak out to Masonboro or Shark Tooth Island. If kayaking isn’t your speed, rent a jet ski to fly through the Intercoastal Waterway. For a different kind of adventure, try up to 60 different beers or ciders at Pour Taproom in Downtown.
Whatever you decide to do this summer, it’s guaranteed to be a great summer by spending it in Wilmington, North Carolina. At Maus, Warwick, Matthews & Company we’re wishing you a safe and enjoyable summer!
