In an exciting move, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina has relocated its association office to the vibrant Soda Pop District in downtown Wilmington. Facilitated by our team member, Ginny Dunn, this lease marks a pivotal step in the YMCA’s mission to better serve the community through enhanced operations and expanded outreach.
The YMCA’s new facility is in the historic Bottle Works Building. It has 6,400 square feet of office space and 6,700 square feet of warehouse space. This combination offers the perfect solution for the YMCA’s growing administrative and programmatic needs.
A Space Designed for Growth and Service
The move has been transformative for the YMCA, particularly for its food services department, which now has ample room to store and distribute meals for programs such as summer camp, afterschool care, and preschool. In 2024 alone, the YMCA distributed over 244,000 meals to children in need, a feat made possible by their new warehouse capabilities.
Located in a designated food desert, the facility is also positioned to support underserved neighborhoods by creating a food distribution center with refrigeration for fresh produce and meats. This move reinforces the YMCA’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting healthy living.
Additionally, the new space provides room for staff, volunteers, and community members to gather for workshops, meetings, and events, fostering a sense of togetherness and collaboration.
